Karara Mining Limited is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Hydraulics Technician to join the site maintenance team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for ongoing maintenance, installation of hydraulic components and equipment to ensure operational maintenance meets Karara's standards of safety, efficiency and quality.

This role operates on an 8:6 day shift roster and is FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety leadership by meeting all Karara safety policy and procedure requirements
  • Role model safe work practices and actively identify opportunities for safety improvements and initiatives
  • Developing and participating in the overall execution of planned and unplanned mechanical tasks
  • Performing assigned work tasks for scheduled and unscheduled work
  • Adhering to all statutory and safety requirements
  • Providing technical knowledge where possible
  • Writing job procedures for various maintenance tasks
  • Proactively monitoring, measuring, communicating and reporting issues and technical deviations in all work areas

Key requirements:

  • Trade qualification in a mechanical field with exposure to fitting competency or specialisation in hydraulics
  • Proven and demonstrated high level exposure to hydraulic systems and fault finding
  • Current WA drivers license
  • High risk work licenses (working at heights , confined space etc)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of fixed plant equipment
  • Mining and mineral processing equipment knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work in line with predicted operational requirements
  • Computer literacy
